Winter Holidays in Defereggental

Defereggental in East Tyrol is one of the most beautiful high valleys in the Alps.

Sun, snow and snow-covered forests. This is what winter in St. Jakob is all about.

A place where you can forget the stresses of daily life, those business appointments and always being pressed for time. Amid the high-alpine setting of our valley, you can take a deep, cleansing breath, whilst body and spirit find the rest they truly need. Enjoy our culinary specialties, experience tradition, art and culture, and allow yourself to be treated to the heartfelt hospitality of the locals.

Explore the alpine world of East Tyrol on skis or a snowboard - and of course, with the occasional refreshment stop at one of our rustic huts, here in the heart of Hohe Tauern National Park. There are so many different ways for you to experience winter here with us, be that cross-country skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, sledding, snowshoeing, alpine skiing or simply soaking up the rays. There is something here to appeal to everyone, regardless of age. Amid the slopes of St. Jakob, pros and rookies, adventure-seekers and families, all find ideal ways to spend their winters - and all of this until well into April.

Winter here with us in Defereggental lasts from the end of November until after Easter. Magical snow and slope conditions allow us to guarantee you an extraordinary ski vacation.
Our ski area - the Brunnalm - has something to offer all age groups and all abilities, though it couldn't be more ideal for families with children.

The Funpark, too, exceeds all the expectations of boarders.
Never feeling lost in the crowd, fantastic conveniences and sincere people - this is what St. Jakob is all about. But don't just take our word for it - come see what we mean during your next vacation.

Our Special Tip for Easter:
Enter the 1st Deferegger Water Slide Contest on Easter Sunday. You will ski down a ski jump, then try to jump as far as possible across a water-filled moat at the bottom. It will be enormous fun, but beware: landing in the water is a distinct possibility!!!

Summer Holidays in Defereggental

Lush alpine meadows, rushing, crystal-clear mountain streams and gloriously fresh air. You can enjoy all of this in summer, here in our romantic, untamed high valley.

The indescribable feeling of finally making it onto the summit, all of the effort it took to get there completely forgotten. Something you can experience here with us, as you can the unique, often rare flora and fauna of the Defereggental. Countless hiking paths invite you to discover an intact natural setting,  one which has been lovingly nurtured for many centuries.

Unique and truly beautiful - there's no better way to describe spring and early summer in Defereggental. Nature, reawakening after the winter, the first spring flowers and the lush green of the hillsides and meadows, so filled with power, that it also inspires your own inner life forces.

Something quite special in Defereggental is the rhododendron blossom, which generally is at its height in June. The alpine pastures are immersed in a vivid sea of red from these unique mountain flowers, and a hike to see them isn't just good for the body, it brings true joy to the soul.
