The "House of Water" is an education center in East Tyrol belonging to Hohe Tauern National Park. Focusing on the theme of water, it offers hands-on environmental lessons. In the Defereggental of East Tyrol, at 1440 m above sea level in the National Park community of St. Jakob, school classes of all ages experience and learn about water during project days lasting three to five days.
Furthermore, in July and August special programs are offered for the whole family, visitors and locals.
At the Haus of Water, in a near-natural setting, visitors are able to discover and investigate the natural element, water.
By means of this innovative and educationally sound program, knowledge is imparted and excitement awoken.
Visitors reflect critically about their own behavior, and develop an awareness for thoughtful interaction with this vital natural resource.
